The day after my 70th birthday, I took a 2,500 mile road trip to eastern Pa. to study glass painting. For a week, I worked to recreate the face of a man who once taught at Harvard and used LSD as a means of tuning into his inner self and understanding spirituality. This was the 60's and the start of a movement. Glass paint is a reverse layering process with painstaking removal of certain areas before each firing in a kiln. Timothy Leary's face has 9 layers of paint and nine firings in the kiln. His face and his story called out to be expanded, so I designed this piece to represent that counter culture era with all its color and vibrancy.
